The band recently performed two nights one one of our favourite venues in our calendar – Backstage at The Green, Kinross. We have been looking through different mobile phone footage we have from both shows and came across a video of our first ever performance of A Trick of The Tail.
So we thought we’d share it with you. 🙂
Special thanks to Dave Broome for the photos, Michelle D’Vali for the video and Dave Jones for editing it all together.

The Last Domino to The Next Domino
Ever since Genesis toured their final tour – The Last Domino – Mama have been touring their very own version of it, largely with the same set list, in the same order. For the first time ever, we are releasing the full show on video, both in standard definition (DVD) and high definition (Blu-ray Disc).
The Next Domino tour was performed live to a packed crowd at The Met in Bury, back in April 2022. At the time, we were testing out some new video gear and running a shake down test before we actually planned to shoot any video. But after seeing the footage, we decided it was good enough to release, so we set about the long process of editing, mixing, grading, refining and generally doing a long of “ing”ing to get it just how we wanted it. The results are now in!
Buy It Now!
So, you can now puchase a DVD or Blu-ray Disc version of our Next Domino Tour from any of our shows (see Jan on the merchandise table) or if you’re really desperate to get your hands on a copy, order through our online store here: www.amprolive.co.uk
Furthermore, if you want the show on double CD, rest assured, it’s winging it’s way to us as we type. We don’t want to put it on sale until we have it in our hands and can therefore guarantee that we can post it out but again, it will be available at all our future shows and Jan is the one to see!

Some sad news to start this year off. John Comish has decided to leave the band with immediate effect. John started Mama with John Wilkinson, Andrew Prince and James Cooper and has been a vital part of our success since. If you ever saw John live you will know what he brought to the band. There is no animosity on any part and its very likely that he will work with some of the Mama musicians in the future on other projects. Thanks for everything John.
We are thrilled to announce his replacement is Andy Keegan. Andy stood in for John at the recent New Brighton show in November and is an ex member of the Genesis tribute band The Carpet Crawlers. Andy is a massive Genesis fan and has already suggested some new songs for the band to perform. We would like to welcome Andy to Mama and we are looking forward to doing some shows with him.
And just to whet your appetite, we’ve included some mobile phone footage of Andy with us performing Entangled at New Brighton.
Everyone here at Mama HQ would like to thank all of you who have attended our Next Domino Tour shows so far this year. The audience reaction has been overwhelming and we are really enjoying playing our version of the same set Genesis played on their Last Domino Tour.
We have been recording some of our shows with an aim of putting together a live album for release later this year. We do have a live EP available on our merchandise desk, along with T-shirts and various CDs, but no album featuring the current line-up of Mama.
Currently I am mixing tracks from our recent show at The Met in Bury and I have just finished a mix for our version of Home By The Sea. We are releasing this with a video as a taster of what will be on our live album. Check out the video here and let us know what you think by dropping your comments below. You can also message us via our website or on our Facebook page. We hope you like the video and look forward to hearing from you.
Here at Mama HQ, we’ve been enjoying our traditional Summer break – you know…. rain, rain, rain and more rain!
As you know, we don’t generally put shows into the diary for the Summer months but that doesn’t mean we stop working altogether. Far from it. Often we are discussing the set list and how we can change it in the future or maybe ideas on how we can improve our show and add things to it to make it even more spectacular. Often, we get involved in other musical projects because each member of the band has such projects going on.
But today, we wanted to share a cool video we found on YouTube. Whilst this video wasn’t produced by Mama, it does a really great job of illustrating in great detail, just how much work goes into each track we perform live. We figured some of you would really enjoy seeing what goes into a Genesis track and hence, getting an insight into the musical genius of Genesis music.
If only Rick Beato would produce these videos for all Genesis tracks – it would certainly make our lives so much easier! How about it Rick? 🙂

We’ve never done this before…. Posted a video of an entire show in one go! So, we hope you enjoy our set at The Lowry. make sure you switch the video to full HD quality, if it’s not by default.
Special thanks to everyone who turned out to see us. Thanks for also bearing with the emergency services who were rather busy closing all roads leading to the venue. We know it was a lot harder to reach the venue than it should have been, so it’s great that so many of you made it to the show.
We filmed this on a pro HD video camera and used but ambient and desk audio mixed together to give it a bit of atmosphere. The full set list looks like this:
First Half
Deep In The Motherlode Land of Confusion Carpet Crawlers Squonk Behind The Lines Duchess Guide Vocal Turn It On Again No Son Of Mine Follow You Follow Me Domino
Second Half
Mama Lamb Lies Down on Broadway / Musical Box (outro) Fading Lights Home By The Sea / Second Home By The Sea I Know What I Like Sledgehammer In The Cage / Cinema Show / Slippermen / Afterglow Dance On A Volcano / Los Endos / Suppers Ready (outro) The Knife
Feel free to leave a comment in the comments section below. We\’d love to get your feedback on our show.
After a fairly long break, we’re back! This weekend, Saturday 12th May 2018, we’ll be appearing at The Playhouse 2 Theatre in Shaw, which is near Oldham. We’ve performed at this venue a number of time in the past and it always sells out. Right now, there are just a few tickets left so if you want some, head over to the box office and grab them.
In other news, we have an interview with Dave, our bass player. Read on….
Mama Website:Hi Dave! How are things?
Dave Jones:Things are just fine thanks.
MW:Any Mama related news you can share with us?
DJ:The band will be back on the road soon with a show at The Playhouse, Shaw, Oldham in May and this could be – I say could be because you never know – our last show with Darren on guitar.
MW:Explain all!
DJ:I am sure readers will be aware that Darren decided to leave the band at the end of last year and we now have a new guitarist, Jon, but he isn’t free for the Oldham show and so Darren has kindly agreed to step in. After Oldham, Jon will be playing all our shows and we will be in Scotland in June plus Tribfest in August.
