DAVE’S TOUR LOG: Trading Boundaries, Sheffield Green

An Evening of Genesis with Mama @ The Village Hall, North FerribyTwo shows coming up after our Summer break!

The first is a new venue near Hull, namely North Ferriby Village Hall where we have been asked to play by a local promoter who saw us at Tribfest last year. Tickets are going well and we are looking forward to seeing some of the folk who supported us at Tribfest over the last three years there. We decided to have a break from Tribfest this year but we will be returning in 2016. See our EventBrite page for tickets.

The second is a welcome return to a great venue on the Flyde coast namely Thornton Little Theatre. We sold the venue out last time and advance ticket sales are up on last year already so please book now to avoid missing out. This is a great venue with a superb atmosphere. Tickets are available on our Thornton EventBrite booking page.

The Brindley Rocks!

Just have to write a few words about the show at The Brindley in Runcorn, which was one of the best venues we have ever appeared at. Great 400 seater which we 3/4 filled. We (and the promoter) were very happy with that for a first time visit. We have already been booked back for two nights in 2016 and one of these will be our new Genesis Hits show. We did preview that show with a version of Sledgehammer which went down a storm. Considering we had only played it once in rehearsal that was quite a result!

People have asked us about the Genesis Hits show so let us clarify what it is and why we doing it. We realised that as we play longer pieces such as the Duke Suite and Home By The Sea, we missed playing some of the shorter songs we used to play. The idea was born to produce a show were we could play a set of more progressive, longer Genesis songs one night and a set of Hits by Genesis, Phil Collins, Peter Gabriel and Mike & The Mechanics the next night. We are going to do this in selected venues in 2016 as well as Kinross this year. Some folk will come both nights and some will pick a night that suits them, which is of course fine.

Also we now have not only a CD on our merchandise stall but some jazzy new T-shirts with an exclusive Genesis design by our very own Mark on guitars.

Dave’s Tour Log Episode 5: TRIBUTE WARS

Episode 5: The Empire Strikes First

A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away….

Late into the night the hedgehog looked up from the middle of the road to see the pattern of stars in the sky. A roaring sound came from behind it, followed by a woosh as a huge white object flashed across the sky above. It was the last thing the hedgehog saw as it was squashed by the white van. Mama at Warrington Parr Hall & PyramidMama, the UK’s all era Genesis tribute band presents their next show at Warrington Parr Hall / Pyramid Complex!

It’s summer time. We’re just about recovered from our last show at Thornton Little Theatre. Thanks to everyone who bought tickets and came down to see the band perform. It was very much appreciated. The audience plays a big role in making a show great and Thornton was one of our greatest yet!

Our next show is at Warrington Parr Hall & Pyramid Complex on Saturday 2nd August 2014. If you want tickets, we would suggest buying in advance because our last show at this venue pretty much sold out. We’ve already sold half the tickets and normally we tend to sell the main bulk of tickets in the week running up to the show, which is er, right now! So get on it pronto if you want to come to our Genesis party! Tickets are once again available from our EventBrite box Office priced £15.00 plus a small booking fee.

Thornton Rocks. We Have Proof!

Were you at our Thornton show? Why not watch our videos below, taken from that very gig, then leave us a comment at the bottom of this page? Here’s the opening number from the show, Behind The Lines (thanks to Bazza for manning the camera):

The News, In A Flash!

Manc Floyd - Bury Met 2013Newsflash! Mama, the UK’s all era Genesis tribute is about to issue some er, some news!

Evening people! It’s been a while since we updated our website with the latest news. We’ve been collecting little bits from here, there and everywhere to keep things informative and stimulating. I hope you agree. 🙂

Grimsby Local News Story

First up, we seem to have got a mention in the Grimsby Telegraph detailing our upcoming show on Saturday 16th March – that’s two days away! We’re not sure when the article is being published in the physical paper. In fact, it may already have been published. Let us know if you see it. You can also read the article online here.

The article features a fan video recorded at The Box in Crewe. Unlike a lot of fan videos, it’s rather good quality. Do check it out – anyone for the first 8 minutes of In The Cage Medley? Thanks Faye!

Radio Reactions

Also from the Grimsby area, or more precisely, the Hull area, we got a quick mention from Andy Fea on WHCR last Saturday. If you tune in this Saturday, we believe we might get another mention. What’s more, if you email, text, tweet and Facebook the radio station in an all out assault, you might be able to persuade Andy to play a couple of your favourite Genesis tracks while we are on the road. Go on, I dare you! Double dare you! View full article »

Valentines Day Free Prize Draw!

Happy Valentines DayMama, the UK’s all era Genesis tribute band is giving away free tickets!

Hello! It’s Valentines Day everyone! So from all of us here at Mama HQ, we thought we’d wish you all a very nice day and we decided to give away some freebies so that you can treat your loved ones to a romantic evening filled with prog rock music.

No seriously, what’s more romantic that prog? What could possibly be more romantic than the music of Pink Floyd, Marillion and Genesis all in one four and a half hour show?

Okay maybe not. But still, it IS Valentines Day and we ARE going to give out two free pairs of tickets for our Prog Rock Celebration show that’s coming up on Easter Saturday, 30th March 2013. We will be doing a free draw from our mailing list, so if you’re already subscribed, thanks and well done! If not, why not?

Get signed up now on the right hand side of the website. It’s free, we don’t and won’t spam you and it’s dead simple. Just pop your email address in the box along with your first name in the other box and hit ‘register’. Then our website sends you a quick confirmation email and you just open it and click the link within to confirm. We use this method to stop people from signing others up to our email newsletter without their permission. It’s very clever, but if you’re using a Hotmail or Google account, sometimes the confirmation email gets stuck in your spam folder.

So remember, if you didn’t click the link in the email, you’re not on the mailing list and you cannot possibly win two free tickets to the show (worth a whopping £20.00 each I might add!) because you won’t be entered in the free draw.

So that’s almost it from us here at Mama HQ. You can find details of our next show at the historic Cavern Club on The Cavern website and you can find everything you ever needed to know about our Prog Rock Celebration show on the EventBrite website, including details of the hotel deal we’ve worked out for you.

Get signed up, get some tickets for The Cavern and enjoy the remainder of Valentines Day, probably by doing something that’s not related to prog.  🙂
