Behind The Lines / Dukes End
As we approach the last couple of shows in our 2013 calendar, we have started to think about the changes for 2014. Regular Mama followers know we have used Behind The Lines / Dukes End as our show opener from day one. We have tried swapping things around with Mama and Turn It On Again, but let’s face it Behind The Lines is iconic as a Genesis opener. The theory is, if it ain’t broke….
What we’re planning for 2014 is to broaden the piece from the way Genesis used it in 2007 and match it to ‘The Story of Albert’, as performed in May 1980. If you have been to a recent Mama show you will know that we now include the vocal section of Behind The Lines, segue through Duchess and Guide Vocal to close it with Turn it On Again. There is a bit missing…. a very important bit!
The band is hopeful that Dukes Travels will be rehearsed and embedded in our Duke Suite by the time we start our 2014 programme. We will then restore Dukes End in its rightful place to complete the Suite. A little later than planned but you know what they say….
Two big medleys in the set for next year (You should all know what the other one is. If you don’t then have a look around this website!). Here it comes…. The Story of Albert, Mama style!
You can catch up with Mama at our free 2013 Christmas Party / Video shoot in Bacup on the 7th December. To register for your free ticket, simply head over to our EventBrite box office website. Tickets are going real fast for this show despite the fact that we haven’t actually started advertising it yet outside of the Mama website. So book early to avoid disappointment.

Mama, the UK’s all era Genesis tribute band publish SoundCloud recordings from their recent Kinross show.
It’s been less than a week since we visited The Green Hotel in Kinross with our 2013 show. We had a great time entertaining a predominantly new Genesis crowd for us as it was our first ever gig in Scotland. From the feedback we’ve received, the band went down a storm and everyone had a really good time.
Thanks to everyone who came to support us at Kinross. We are looking forward to putting another show into the venue in the new year. If you’re not already subscribed to our email newsletter on the right hand side, please do so and then we can let you know next time we are visiting. Don’t forget to click the link in the email we send you, to confirm your subscription. If you don’t do this, you won’t be subscribed and we cannot email you.
In other news, we have a show this weekend at Theatre On The Steps, Bridgnorth. It’s looking like it may come close to selling out if not actually selling out, so if you’re thinking of coming down to see the band then we would suggest you book tickets in advance. You can contact the box office on 01746 763 257 or book online on their website.
And another tiny little bit of news – we have had to change the date of our next gig at The Moses Gate live music venue, in Farnworth, Bolton. The gig was scheduled for Saturday 8th June 2013 but has been brought forward one week to Saturday 1st June 2013. We’ve updated our gigs page with this information.
Without further ado, here are two tracks recorded live from our mixing desk at Kinross. First up is Dodo / Lurker, followed by the epic In The Cage Medley. Enjoy! 🙂
Mama will perform their 2012 show at Moses Gate Farnworth, Saturday 8th September 2012
If you’re a regular at Moses Gate Live Music Venue in Farnworth, then you’ll know what great a great atmosphere this venue provides for the many live bands that perform there. Soon it will be our turn to hit the stage for the first time (though some of the guys in the band have performed many times at this venue in the past).
To celebrate our Moses Gate show, we’ve decided to release a new video that some of the guys in the band would have performed here in the past. It’s time for a Phil Collins number! We hope you enjoy! 🙂
Don’t forget to sign up to the Mama Email Newsletter for a chance to win a Google Nexus 7 Android Tablet! We’ll see you all at the show on the 8th!
Now please, please, please, give us a shoutout using the buttons below. 🙂
A special ‘thank you’ to Rachel for writing this amazing review of the Mama show at The Box in Crewe. Photos by Julie Thompson. 🙂
One Night In Crewe – Mama – 19th May 2012. Review by Rachel Powell.
Go back in time to December 2011 at The Box in Crewe. Here we said goodbye to Face Value, a regular on the Genesis tribute band scene. Just three months later, Face Value re-emerged at the Pacific Road in Birkenhead with a new drummer and for the first time…a bassist! All of this under a new name – Mama.
So here we are, 19th May 2012 back at The Box. Only this time, the original guitarist Chris O’Connell had another gig to perform so we had the keyboardist’s brother, Mark Comish to stand in for the night. More about that later.
We kicked off proceedings with Duke’s Medley, the old favourite opening number from the Face Value days, and it was clear from the outset that the sound was much improved now with Mark Conroy on bass and James Cooper featuring a ‘proper’ drum kit. The introduction from Behind The Lines had the original strength that I felt was missing before. We’re back in business! View full article »
