Mama will be performing two nights at The Floral Pavilion this weekend – Friday 3rd & Saturday 4th March 2017!
The weekend draws near… Two shows beckon… A new venue for Mama… The start of the next five years of the bands history…
Then JW stepped in and wrote a new post for us to publish right here, right now. So all that deep and meaningful stuff we had lined up to publish got thrown out of the proverbial window and left in the slush that currently adorns the grass in the front garden. Ooops!
Take it away JW!
Five years. 1,825 days. 43,800 hours. 2,628,000 minutes. 31,536,000 seconds. In other words, a LONG time!
We started planning this band back in 2011 and our first show was on the Wirral at Pacific Road on 30th March 2012. Over 100 shows later we return to the Wirral for two nights of Genesis and solo songs at The Blue Room, Floral Pavilion, New Brighton this Friday and Saturday. The emphasis on Friday is on Genesis songs with the whole of the “Duke Suite” being performed. Saturday sees us concentrating on Genesis hits and solo hits from Phil Collins, Peter Gabriel and Mike & The Mechanics. View full article »
Dave’s Tour Log – Issue 1 – Legends of Rock weekend, March 7th 2015
It’s 8.00am and I am sitting in Betty, the name lovingly given to the Mama tour van. I’m with John W, James and Andrew as we set off on our epic trip from the North West to Great Yarmouth. The weather is gorgeous and we all have a spring in our step. The van is in good form and we head off on the open road (well, the M6 anyway) and the conversation varies from music to maths – yes maths.
It was going very nicely thank you, until a car pulled up in front of us and flashed FOLLOW ME through its back window. So we exited the motorway and found ourselves driving into a Police check area. Lots of questions flashed through our minds! Did we insure the van? YES. Is the MOT up to date? YES. Do the tyres have legal tread? YES. Should we ask the Policeman to amend his car sign to say FOLLOW YOU first? Er NO. JW is wearing his Mama T-shirt and one of the Policemen is a big Genesis fan. He approaches John and asks him a key question, “What era do you do?”
“All era’s matey!” That said we pass the test and drive back onto the motorway.
Sat Nav & Radio issues
We are using Andrew’s mobile phone sat nav as the one in the van isn’t very good. The last time we turned it on it simply said, “You are lost!” While Andrew is resting his eyes, we think about attaching his phone to the radio so that we can hear it advising us on which way to go. Unfortunately the van’s radio came free in a Christmas Cracker and as such does not appear to allow you to manually tune in to particular radio frequencies, so we need Andrew awake to tell us which way to go. This is the point where Andrew defines the term “normal” as meaning one who has a broken radio and will get it repaired. Clearly JW isn’t normal. View full article »
Mama, the UKs ‘all era’ Genesis tribute band today announce a huge gig for 2013 at The Rose Club (formerly Monaco Ballroom) in Hindley, Wigan!
It seems in the short nine months that the band have been performing, we’ve been inundated with requests to put a show in the Wigan area. So here it is… Saturday 30th March 2013 – that’s Easter Weekend!
Prog Rock Celebration, featuring the best of British Progressive Rock music!
We’ve teamed up with Ampro Promotions to bring you this great show which will feature Mama, Manc Floyd and Scotlands Stillmarillion. The show will be a fitting way to celebrate our first year anniversary, having met some great new friends on our travels. You’ll get three bands each doing a one and a half hour set of the best prog rock pieces the world has seen, totalling four and a half hours of live music entertainment! What more could anyone ask for?
Tickets are now on sale for this event on the EventBrite website. They are £20.00 for a standard ticket or £30.00 for a VIP ticket. The VIP tickets will include a limited edition event T-shirt and other surprises on the night. Standard tickets will also be available on the door priced £27.00.
Closer to the show date, we will be sorting out an exclusive offer with a local hotel to enable everyone to get quality board and lodgings. This means you can get a train into Wigan from anywhere in the UK, stop over and generally have a blast hanging out with a great crowd! More info on that when we have it.
Please help us promote the show by sharing this post on Facebook and Twitter using the share buttons below. The more we get into the venue, the better the atmosphere and the greater the show will be! 🙂
Bit of fun – how many Genesis / Floyd / Marillion images can you spot below?
Thanks to MkCoPhoto Design for this amazing image! 🙂
Mama, the UKs ‘all era’ Genesis tribute band announce a new gig for your diary – The Railway, Bromley Cross.
That’s right! This excellent live music venue, The Railway, is playing host to Mama on 31st March 2012. If you’re in the Bromley Cross area, check out their Facebook page and their MySpace page. The Railway hosts lots of bands in association with Scan Computers.
This will be a great gig in the Bolton area so if you’re free that night, get yourself down for some all Genesis fun! Actually, scratch that idea. If you’re NOT free that night, cancel whatever you’re doing and come down for a warm welcome from Hilary & Jon – and let the band blow you away with their all new show! 🙂
